Transdev Operations Manager in Santa Ana, California

Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for all management and day-to-day operations of service and must maintain consistent and sufficient contact and communications with designated Client and Transdev staff. The Operations Manager will be assigned to general supervision, investigation, and response to customer comments and helping to ensure quality service.

This is for proposed business all offers are contingent upon Transdev's award of the contract.

Responsibilities

  • Act as back-up to the GM for the project management functions

  • Supervises daily activities of all operations

  • Oversees scheduling of operators; monitors operations and coordinates delivery of service

  • Works closely with the maintenance department to ensure that all operation requirements are met

  • Track, compile and analyze performance; handle interdepartmental issues; resolve employee issues and grievances; improve processes and route scheduling

  • Makes hiring decisions for authorized roles; evaluates the work performance of staff; ensures the timely and efficient completion of all assigned tasks

  • Assists in accident/incident investigation, including any needed on-site assistance and support to safety and training personnel

  • Coordinates with the safety and training department to ensure all safety goals and directives are met

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information

Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required

  • College or university degree preferred

  • Must have the ability to achieve and maintain a current certification to operate the streetcar vehicles and must maintain any other licenses or certifications required by applicable federal, state, or local regulations

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required:

  • 3 or more years of relevant transit supervisory experience required

  • Thorough knowledge of basic laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation

  • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments

  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and relevant database programs

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details

  • Ability to work effectively with labor; may include labor grievances and negotiations

Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% travel for occasional meetings

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must be able to maintain a DOT medical card

  • Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear.

  • Frequently required to sit. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and smell. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Up to 30% of the workday is spent outdoors monitoring service on routes, transit facilities, and company locations.

  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold and in a damp environment with moderate noise.

  • Remaining work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer; time is spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer.
