Transdev Services, Inc. seeks a motivated individual to join the San Francisco Paratransit Office as a Finance Clerk. This is a temporary position for 180 days.

Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Finance Clerk performs a series of tasks related to the purchase and sale of fare media for registered paratransit clients, and other duties that may be assigned.

Responsibilities

Examples of Key Duties:

  • Answers telephone calls from riders requesting information about their taxi debit card account and other SF Paratransit services.

  • Transacts payments made primarily via telephone or mail from riders who wish to purchase SF Access fare tickets add/or add value to their SF Paratransit taxi debit card accounts.

  • Accurately processes transactions made by credit card, check or cash and gives correct change.

  • Identifies discrepancies in payments received and takes corrective action as directed.

  • Assists the Finance Manager or Finance Supervisor with accounting of fare media and driver manifests, often by counting documents manually and/or by generating reports electronically.

Examples of Other Duties:

  • Receives incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail for addressing and postage.

  • Provides call center telephone support and answers general questions about SF Paratransit services.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED, or California High School Proficiency Certificate required.

  • Ability to work as part of a team effort as well as ability to work independently.

  • Ability to process multiple incoming phone calls and tasks in an expedient, courteous, and professional manner.

  • Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions with accuracy.

  • Computer literacy with good working knowledge of database systems and ability to perform data entry via keyboard, with experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Must be capable of acting professionally at all times when interacting with the public and team members.

  • Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal, at high school level or higher.

  • Ability to perform general office work including data entry, filing, and other duties as assigned.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Excellent telephone skills.

  • Public contact or customer service experience.

  • Experience with cashiering or point-of-sale systems.

  • Good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly at all times and in all situations and interacting with diverse groups in a sensitive and understanding manner.

  • Demonstrates empathy without being perceived as sympathetic or uncaring. Maintains an even disposition when dealing with difficult or combative persons.

  • Positive and pleasant personality and a willingness to work.

  • Knowledge of another language, particularly Russian, Spanish, or Chinese, is helpful.

  • Experience working with the elderly/ disabled a plus.

Work Environment: Ninety-five percent (95%) of the work performed in the capacity of this position is in a professional office environment that is clean, well lit, and in compliance with the ADA’s Architectural Standards. Minimal lifting is required and never any more than twenty-five (25) pounds. The remaining five percent (5%) level of work may be performed off-site but never in unsafe or hazardous surroundings. The office is environmentally friendly and neither smoking nor artificial scents are permitted in the work environment.

Work Schedule: This is a temporary position for 180 days. The position is full-time, mostly Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, but candidate must be flexible and able to work non-traditional business days and hours including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and some holidays.
