The person in this role will identify and monitor division training needs, plan, and implement training programs, policies, and procedures and manage a training team to fulfill those needs - with a focus on defensive driver training and CDL related training. He/She will lead the TAS defensive driving efforts.
Reviews and develops training programs and curriculums; suggests enhancements and modifications to improve engagement, learning, and retention and/or to meet the changing needs of the client, the organization, or the industry.
Manages training schedule and data models to ensure the most efficient use of trainer availability.
Manage the training team, hires as needed, evaluates performance of trainers and supervisors, conducts performance improvement plans and discipline as needed.
Ensures that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective.
Effectively manage training pipeline including upskill training of existing staff; also appropriately forecasting future training as there are fleet changes, mission additions, etc.
Maintains knowledge of new methods and techniques for training, and training requirements applicable to the organization and/or industry; to include content, appropriate training equipment that may be needed and locational needs for training.
Identifies problems and opportunities such as operational changes or industry developments that training could improve. Advise GM and TAS leadership on recommendations based on findings.
Collaborates with and provides input on selecting vendors and third-party training providers to arrange training, as appropriate.
Ensures that training milestones and goals are met while meeting operational needs
Ensure training compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as requirements of Transdev’s clients, to include DOT requirements, CDL requirements, FMCSA requirements/regulations;
Monitor driver/operator qualification file;
Ensure all locational TAS employees (including all active operators) are trained on all safety policies and procedures, and that training is properly documented;
Perform accident investigation and remediation training; enhance/update training as needed and properly document;
Capable of responding quickly to changing and potentially high-pressure environments in a calm and reassuring manner;
Provide concise, clear, and accurate verbal and written feedback regarding the proper way;
Collaborate with peers to create and update policies related to training and operations;
Report on training team performance and accomplishments;
Communicate and collaborate with Transdev’s clients on training implementation.
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets to determine data accuracy/quality and communicate findings early.
Extract and analyze data to support business initiatives.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required :
Must be 21 years old;
Bachelors Degree (preferred but not required) in a related field such as Business, Logistics, Transportation or related field
Minimum of 15 years of transportation management and/or training management experience. Additional experience is preferred;
Significant experience with driver training and CDL experience
High proficiency with a laptop computer and GSuite apps (i.e. Gmail, Hangouts, and Driver, including Sheets and Docs); and
Proficiency with using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred by not required).
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite (i.e. Google Docs, Spreadsheet, Presentation)
Working knowledge of performance management/monitoring systems;
Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly DOT, OSHA and FMCSA standards desirable;
Strong ability to analyze and identify risk trends, problems and solutions;
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums (face-to-face or electronic communication), listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, and clarify meaning for others;
Ability to analyze, define, diagnose, and resolve problems based on sound logic and rationale;

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance including domestic travel up to 50% of the time based on business need. Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays to support business needs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced constantly evolving environment.
