Overview
The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the Maintenance Manager to oversee all activities of the maintenance department, including personnel, and the maintenance and repair of fixed route buses and support vehicles. This manager is also responsible for communicating and enforcing safety policies and procedures at the location in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and Transdev policies.

This is for proposed business and all offers are contingent upon Transdev's award of the contract at Tempe and Mesa, AZ.
Responsibilities
Shares responsibility with the maintenance manager of supervising, training, evaluating, and scheduling mechanics and other shop workers; and may administer collective bargaining agreement provisions
Coordinates work performed by outside vendors
Assists with development of efficient repair schedules, and repair cost estimates
Helps to ensure equipment is maintained and operating efficiently
Controls and monitors inventory
Ensures that all vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and properly working
Follows safety policies and procedures for the department; and maintains a safe working environment
Participates in the administration of the operational budget
Ensures that property, grounds, and facilities are clean and well organized
Qualifications
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required :
High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required
BA/BS in transportation, logistics, or related field preferred
ASE Certifications preferred
Valid CDL
Experience :
A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance supervision of 45 or more mechanics required
Minimum 5 years mechanic experience
Strong technical background with transit buses, electrical & hydraulic systems
Experience with Electric and/or Hydrogen buses preferred
Proficient with maintenance software applications
Demonstrates strong managerial & training qualities
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Good written and oral communication skills
Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy duty transportation vehicles
Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
Ability to read, interpret and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams
Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence
Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to detail
Ability to work well with union partners
Travel <10%
