Overview of Position: Supports human resource operations across multiple facilities for multiple business units.
Responsibilities
Oversees the implementation and execution of Human Resources policies and procedures for the Southwest Region including California locations
Develops and improves processes and policies related to talent including the selection and hiring processes, onboarding processes, compliance processes, performance management and talent assessment, and other employee lifecycle processes
Leads the fostering culture development for diversity and inclusion
Leads key hiring activities for the region including job evaluations, job description creation and review
Reviews recommendations related to performance management, behavioral issues, corrective actions, policy interpretations, terminations to minimize legal exposure; ensures employment actions are documented appropriately documented and consistent with policies and laws
Coaches and mentors assigned staff; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports
Identifies training and development needs of teams and individuals; collaborates with local and regional management and with the corporate Talent Management and Learning & Development teams to deliver against the needs
Works with local teams to resolve hotline, EEOC and other employee relations matters and complaints
Supports bid process and start-up process, for new business; supports the shut-down efforts for contract transition/exit
Support labor relations efforts through negotiations (as second chair) and assists local teams in grievance management
Maintains confidentiality of all information
Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and strategic priority setting
Qualifications
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related business field required
SPHR-CA or PHR-CA certification preferred
Experience :
Seven to ten years of relevant human resources experience, including three to five years of human resource generalist experience, required
Three to five years of relevant human resources experience in California
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Comprehensive knowledge of human resource rules and regulations at the federal and state level
Knowledge payroll rules and wage and hour regulations preferred
Ability to work well with labor
Travel requirement outside of immediate area: 50-75%
